Automatic TRON Energy: How Smart Mode Refills Itself
In short: automatic TRON energy means a service keeps energy on your address and tops it up after every transfer, so you never order by hand. EnergyTRX smart mode holds about 131,000 energy, enough for one USDT transfer to a new address or two to existing holders, and bills by the transfers you make and the active hours you choose.
What problem does automatic energy solve?
Manual rental works in three steps: order energy, wait for it to arrive, send USDT. That's fine once a week. For an address that sends every day, it means watching rental timers, guessing amounts, and occasionally sending before the energy is there and burning TRX by accident.
Burning is expensive. As of 21.10.2026, the network charges 100 SUN per unit of energy, so a USDT transfer to an address that holds USDT burns about 6.43 TRX, and a transfer to a new address about 13.03 TRX. If an address sends ten transfers a day, missing energy even once or twice adds up quickly. Among the ways to reduce the USDT TRC20 fee, automatic refills target exactly this repeat-sender case.
How does smart mode work, step by step?
- Connect an address. You tell the bot the address you send from and the hours you usually work, for example 9:00 to 21:00.
- The bot places a reserve. Around 131,000 energy is delegated to the address. That is enough even for the expensive case, a transfer to a recipient with no USDT yet.
- You send as usual. Any wallet works: Trust Wallet, TronLink, a Ledger through TronLink, or your own backend. The network spends the delegated energy first.
- The bot sees the spend on-chain and restores the reserve, usually within seconds.
- Outside your window, no reserve is held.
Your wallet signs only your own transfers. Delegation is the provider's transaction from its staked TRX, as described in TRON's Stake 2.0 documentation, so connecting an address requires no key, no seed phrase and no approval.
How does smart mode compare with other ways to pay for energy?
| Approach | You do per transfer | Energy available | What you pay for | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Burn TRX | Keep TRX on the address | Always, if TRX is there | ~6.43 or ~13.03 TRX per transfer (21.10.2026) | Rare transfers |
| One-off rental | Order, wait, send | For the rented term | Each order | Occasional transfers |
| API orders | Your code orders before each payout | For the rented term | Each order | Changing addresses, irregular payouts |
| Smart mode | Nothing extra | Reserve of ~131,000, refilled after each spend | Transfers made plus reserve on active days | Daily sending from one address |
| Own staking | Nothing extra | Your staked share, regenerating over 24 h | Capital locked, 14-day unstaking | Large, long-term volume |
The figures for energy per transfer are network values that change over time, partly because of TRON's dynamic energy model. The TRON energy guide explains where they come from.
How is automatic energy billed?
Billing has two parts, both taken from your bot balance:
- Transfers. A charge for the transfers you actually send from the connected address.
- Holding the reserve. A charge for keeping the reserve in place on days when you are active, within the window you set.
If no transfers are planned, pause the address and the holding stops. The bot shows the exact rates, including any one-off charge for connecting an address, before you confirm. Rates aren't fixed in advance on this blog because they follow the market; the smart mode page shows the current figures.
A practical way to judge it: count how many USDT transfers the address makes on a typical active day and compare the smart mode cost with burning or with a one-off order per transfer. The more transfers you make in a day and the less predictable their timing, the better automatic refills tend to work.
What happens when you send several transfers in a row?
The reserve covers about two transfers to existing holders back to back. After each spend the bot refills, normally within seconds, so a steady flow of payouts a few minutes apart is handled without any action from you.
A very tight burst is different. Ten transfers fired within one minute can outrun the refill. Two options:
- Space them out by the few seconds a refill takes, which most payout scripts can do with a simple delay.
- Top up on top of the reserve with a one-hour order for the same address. Smart mode and one-off orders don't conflict; the network uses whatever energy is delegated.
Also keep a few TRX on the address. The free bandwidth allowance is 600 per day, and a USDT transfer is around 345 bytes, so the first one or two transfers of the day usually fit. Beyond that, bandwidth is either burned at 1,000 SUN per byte, about 0.35 TRX per transfer, or rented separately.
Who is automatic energy for?
- Exchangers and OTC desks with customer payouts throughout the day from a single hot wallet.
- Merchants who pay suppliers or issue refunds at unpredictable times.
- Finance teams running payroll or contractor payments from one corporate address.
- Individuals who send USDT daily and are tired of rental timers.
For businesses, the main benefit is that the person or script sending the payment doesn't have to think about energy at all. The broader options, from staking to accounting for fees, are covered in TRON energy for business.
When should you not use smart mode?
Smart mode keeps a reserve for one address. It isn't the right tool when:
- You send once a week or less. A single rental before the transfer costs less than keeping a reserve.
- Sending addresses change constantly, for example sweeping hundreds of deposit addresses. Ordering per address through the API fits better.
- You need energy for something other than USDT transfers, such as a complex contract call whose consumption is far above 131,000. Size those orders individually.
You can switch smart mode on or off in the bot at any time, so it's easy to test for a week on your busiest address and compare against what you were burning before.
Send your next transfer on rented energy
Right now, 65,000 energy for an hour is 3.15 TRX. Energy on your address in seconds, no keys needed.
Frequently asked questions
How much energy does smart mode keep on my address?
About 131,000. That covers one USDT transfer to an address that has never held USDT, or two transfers to addresses that already hold it (about 65,000 each on 21.10.2026).
How is smart mode billed?
You pay for the transfers you actually make plus holding the reserve on the days you're active, within the hours you set. Charges come off your bot balance and each one shows up in your history.
Do I need to sign anything or share keys for smart mode?
No. You give the bot the public address you send from. Energy is delegated to it from staked TRX, and your wallet only signs your own USDT transfers.
What happens outside my active window?
No reserve is held and nothing is charged for holding it. If you need to send at an unusual hour, place a regular one-off energy order for that address.
Can I pause smart mode?
Yes, in the bot, at any time. The remaining balance stays available for other orders.
